Dark Galaxy (Galaxy Study 11), 2020
24 x 30 x 2 inches
Epoxy resin, alcohol ink, glitter, mica pigments on wood board
This painting is part of an ongoing Galaxy Study series. I’m drawn to the colors and patterns of the galaxy, and the mystery and unknowing of it all.
Because of the materials and colors used, a lot of them aren’t always seen unless in full light. In a shaded or low light room, you get a mysterious, dark look to the work; while in direct light, the colors are revealed and sparkle and change.
About this artwork
Throughout my career, I have experimented with abstraction using a variety of artistic methods and mediums. My resin and pigment paintings allow me to create entirely new worlds that evoke a variety of themes and emotions, which I hope compel the viewer to see many different things with each composition I create.
How its made
This piece was created using epoxy resin and glitter poured onto four wood canvas board. Mica pigment and acrylic paint was added to the resin to create the vibrant colors.
